Imagine organiseert online pitchcompetitie

Zoals elk jaar nodigt het Imagine Film Festival diverse Nederlandse filmmakers uit om hun fantastische filmproject te pitchen voor een internationale jury. De beste pitch wint een deelname aan de coproductiemarkt Frontières. Beide evenementen vinden dit jaar online plaats.

Sinds 2015 organiseert Imagine de pitchcompetitie, waarvan de winnaars deelnemen aan de coproductiemarkt Frontières in Montréal in juli. Dit jaar vindt die markt online plaats en dat geldt ook voor de pitchcompetitie van Imagine. Ook in de virtuele ruimte zetten Imagine en Frontières hun samenwerking voort en wordt het winnende project geselecteerd voor de markt. De via Imagine ingestroomde projecten zijn in vorige jaren succesvol gebleken, met Kill Mode (Frontières 2015) en Meet Jimmy (2018) als uitschieters. Het eerste project is inmiddels gerealiseerd, het tweede is opgepikt door Paramount Studios.

Voor de pitchcompetitie van 2020 nodigt het festival vier projecten uit:

The House With the Six Heads - Yfke van Berckelaer, Rogier Samuels, Lisa Smit (historische home-invasion, wraakfilm)

Logline: When seven robbers invade her home and abuse her friend, a lone girl takes matters into her own hands as she traps the men in the house and hunts them down one by one.

Pieta - Jan Pepermans, Stefanie Vanhecke (feministische horror)

Logline: For a heart that believes, nothing is impossible.

Retina - Niels Veenendaal (dystopische sciencefiction)

Logline: After a full scale disaster, Fleur and Olivier are seemingly the only two humans left. To their surprise, surviving this world that’s slowly taken over by strange plants is easier than they thought.

The Retreat - Ines Swinters (mystieke horror)

Logline: In the darkest of hours, let your inner light shine.

De jury bestaat dit jaar uit: Ellis Driessen (Filmfonds, Nederland) Brendan McCarthy (producent, Ierland) en Matteo Lovadina (sales agent, Frankrijk). De pitch vindt plaats op woensdag 20 mei om 11.00 uur en is digitaal toegankelijk voor pers en publiek.

Frontières vindt plaats van 23 t/m 26 juli.
