Drie Berlijnse prijzen voor Nederlandse Myanmar Diaries

Drie Berlijnse prijzen voor Nederlandse productie Myanmar Diaries, de film van Myanmar Film Collective en de Nederlandse producent ZINdoc over het leven onder de juntaterreur, is op de Berlinale bekroond met de Documentary Award, de Amnesty International Film Award en de derde plaats bij de Panorama Audience Awards.

Afgelopen week won de film, voorafgaand aan het Human Rights Watch Film Festival in Londen, al de eerste Tony Elliott Impact Award. Cinema Delicatessen brengt Myanmar Diaries op 12 mei uit in de bioscopen.

Uit het juryrapport bij de Berlinale Documentary Award (40.000 euro): “We award the Documentary Film Prize to a film that reveals the truth about the military regime’s use of cold-blooded brutality against its people. Courageous citizens recorded the events, a collective of anonymous filmmakers produced the film at a secret location. Despite the relentless depiction of violence, this superb film develops its own artistic poetry. The images and sounds of this tragedy inevitably burn themselves into our minds. With great respect for the work on Myanmar Diaries, we congratulate the whole collective.”

Uit het juryrapport van de Amnesty International Film Award (5.000 euro): "Myanmar Diaries is an impressively investigative and deeply courageous film. All those involved who risked their lives to produce this film are courageous, as are the people who are portrayed in this film and who oppose the military regime in Myanmar.”

Myanmar Diaries, geproduceerd door ZINdoc, is mede mogelijk gemaakt door Nederlands Filmfonds en Fritt Ord en is een coproductie met KRO-NCRV/de Boeddhistische Blik en Ten Thousand Images (Noorwegen). Internationale sales agent is Autlook Filmsales.
